THE HEADQUARTERS building of Tamilnadu Petroproducts Limited (TPL) is located on Cenotaph Road in the heart of Chennai on a site which is 4200m2. The front wing houses the head office of the company and the rear wing is occupied by various tenants. The entry to TPL is from a high lobby facing Cenotaph Road while the tenants’ entry is from the north facing Chittaranjan Road. The longer side which faces north on to Chittaranjan Road has a facade with set–backs on each floor forming landscaped terraces at all levels. The office areas open on to these green areas enhancing the ambience of the workspace.

The exterior has a facing of Dholpur stone with relief lines of Kotah. The stone slabs are fixed with stainless steel clamps creating an air gap between the wall and cladding. This system known as dry cladding helps preserve the stone from the effects of lime leaching from cement mortar and maintains the surface quality of the stone.
